The Clynics were a band based in Norwich, formed initially with 5 UEA students and one 'townie' late in Autumn 1978, then slimmed down to a four piece after Neil and Fez both left to form other bands. We gigged around Norwich between 1979-81 and  recorded two tracks on the seminal 80s  'Norwich, A Fine City' album.
Our sound was never satisfactorily defined as it was not influenced by any one style. This lead to some varied music and therefore we were hard to categorise, although the most common adjective used to describe us was 'new wave'.

The Clynics line-up was:

Lindsey - vocals, keyboards | Neil - guitar, vocals | Fez - guitar, vocals | Simon - guitar | Alan - bass | Ian - drums

"Welcome To Norwich A Fine City" album, on Romans In Britain. Who were Steve Bloch and Mark Thornberry amongst others.

The Clynics had two tracks on it : 'Learning To Smile' and 'Eastern Exercise'.  Here's the review of the album in Phoenix, the UEA newspaper from 7 May 1981 and a scanned review in the local paper.

Here's the agreement with Romans In Britain records and Royalty letters & statement culminating in a payment of 56p, although we never actually received it. Most of the bands on the album recorded their tracks at Whitehouse Sounds.
